Level 7 Professional Certificate in Structured Teaching Intervention for Dyslexia and Literacy

• For graduates holding a degree qualification who are looking to obtain University credits (60)
• Who are currently employed (or very recently, within the last two years) in a school or college setting to work with learners with literacy difficulties/dyslexia/SpLD in the UK or overseas 
• And who can commit to 20 hours of study per week over a 12 month period (one Module per term)
• Excellent spoken and written English
• IELTS 7 for applicants with English as a Second Language

Professional Certificate in Structured Teaching Intervention for Dyslexia and Literacy:

• Module A: Perspectives of Dyslexia and Literacy – 20 credits
• Module B: Principles of Assessment for Dyslexia and Literacy – 20 credits
• Module C: Structured Teaching Intervention for Dyslexia  and Literacy* – 20 credits

*you will be required to find and work with a student/learner in the age range in which you have trained for Module C, full details can be found in the syllabus brochure above.

Please note:

• Candidates are only allowed to enrol and pay for one module at a time. If you do not pass a module you will be able to undertake a re-submission process
• You will not be able to progress to the next module in the sequence until such time as the preceding module has been successfully completed.

After completion of Modules A, B & C you can move on to study Modules D and E which will enable you to become a fully qualified Assessor and gives you eligibility to apply for an Assessment Practising Certificate. for full details regarding progression see programme brochure above.

You can only refer to yourself as a specialist teacher if you already hold a teaching qualification.

The Dyslexia Action Professional programme is a competency-assessed course at Level 7, Master’s level, which requires tutor assessment of the candidate undertaking teaching and assessment. This means that other academic programmes that have not included competency assessment or are at a lower level (e.g. Level 5 or Level 6) may not qualify for accreditation of prior learning (APL). We may however be able to offer some recognition of attainment.

The Postgraduate Level programmes delivered by Dyslexia Action Training lead to the award of credit points, as indicated, by Middlesex University. 

The Dyslexia Action Professional Certificate in Structured Teaching Intervention for Dyslexia and Literacy is eligible for Associate Membership (ADG) of The Dyslexia Guild and is also accredited by the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) for specialist teachers/practitioners (ATS/APS) and PATOSS for Associate membership.
